Coalition to Save Harlem & the City: Unity-Rally 23rd February

Dear Brothers and Sisters,The Coalition to Save Harlem (CSH) is gearing up for its first citywide Unity Rally scheduled on Saturday, February 23rd in the Harriet Tubman School Auditorium (see schedule below). Over the past several months CSH has expanded its support base to include all the five boroughs -Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn and Staten Island. While our main focus continues be on Harlem's commercial and residential tenants due to the long slated and accelerated plan of gentrification. In addition, the proposed rezoning of 125th Street put forth by the New York City Planning Department and Mayor Michael Bloomberg will speed up the eradication of long term Harlem small businesses and residential tenants.

If we are to turn the tides of this siege on our homes and businesses, we have to organize ourselves strategically with clearly defined goals, objectives and most importantly UNITY. To support this process, the CSH general membership body on February 12 elected a seven member Steering Committee comprised of local residents, business owners and community activists. However, CSH needs all of YOU to make this critical movement not only survive but to prosper and grow for the sake of tenants, businesses and all the communities gentrification is claiming in its wrath.

Please attend, bring a friend or neighbor, and pass along the information of upcoming meetings of CSH.

In conclusion, the Unity Rally on Feb. 23rd demands the coordination of our working committees especially Media, Security, Outreach and Logistics. At our next general meeting scheduled for Feb. 19th we will discuss these issues along with tasks and assignments with the committees and general body.
